Matrix Method for Studying Conveyor Systems

A general method, using a cascade network concept and digital computer, is proposed to study conveyor systems. This method accounts for feeder distributed parameters, all electrical elements, and terminal or conveyor drive station load conditions without the limitation of feeder length, number of induction motors and number of conveyor drive stations. The results of this method offer a high degree of accuracy. The voltage and current distribution at any point of interest, such as specific point of the feeder, a specific conveyor drive station, or at the end of the conveyor system can be determined. By use of this approach, electrical characteristics such as voltage and current, power flow, power factor, etc., of any conveyor systems under starting or running conditions, can be obtained.
