Optimal Scheduling of Active Distribution Network with 5G Communication Base Station Participating in Demand Response Considering Carbon Benefit

Building a new power system demands thinking about the access of plenty of 5G base stations. This study aims to promote renewable energy (RES) consumption and efficient use while reducing 5G base stations' own electricity consumption costs by stimulating 5G base stations to participate in demand response and integrating them into the existing active distribution network (ADN) operation framework. Therefore, based on an in-depth analysis of the interaction mode between 5G base stations and the distribution network, this paper proposes an operational flexibility description model for the power use of individual base stations, including the main equipment energy use and the temperature control equipment energy use model, in order to change to fit the increase in power use caused by the fast increase in the number of base stations. Secondly, considering the constraints of both the distribution network and the communication network, we develop an ADN multi-objective operation optimization model that incorporates 5G base stations to minimize the system operation cost and carbon emissions to achieve a comprehensive optimization of the system economy and low carbon benefits.
