MECT-PSO Based Energy Efficient Routing in WSN

Nodes are localized randomly in the network space and the coordinates are acquired by On-Demand routing schemes to search minimum hop paths from the sender node to the destination. We used a two-stage MECT-PSO scheme to choose an optimal route based on minimum execution-completion time (MCET) scheduling and further reduce the minimum average energy loss (AEL) along the path through controlled localization of the nodes using swarm optimization (PSO). In the proposed work, possible paths from source to destination are found using the Dijkstra algorithm and the optimal path with MECT is selected. The AEL along the MECT path is then reduced by straitening the route by displacing the On Path Nodes (OPN) without affecting their neighborhood and avoiding the vicinity. The MECT takes into account the Queue statutes and other overheads of the OPN to select the optimum path while the PSO localizes the OPN based on their current location and sender-receiver coordinates. The experimental analysis showed improved performance of the proposed scheme related to PDR, Energy Consumption, end-to-end delay, and throughput as compared to other techniques such as BEEIP, MM, DSR, and BEEDSR.
