Performance Evaluation of Wireless Fading Channels for Indoor Applications

Channels play a significant role in wireless communication systems. Such systems utilize modulation techniques in enhancing the signal strength or range. However, different channels are preferred for specific data transmission. Interference, bandwidth, modulation order and transmitted power are some of the parameters that directly affect Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) during signal transmission in the channel. This paper overviews on the performance evaluation of wireless fading channels, causes of fading and digital modulation scheme. Here Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) is chosen by considering it to be a preliminary modulation scheme. The main contribution deals with analyzing the performance of small-scale fading in Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), Rayleigh and Rician fading channels.
