A Wideband Circularly Polarized CSRR Loaded Patch Antenna for ISM And C-Band Applications

In this work, a wideband CPW-fed T-shaped circularly polarized patch antenna is reported. A complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) metamaterial unit cell is loaded on the ground plane to enhance the axial ratio bandwidth for having circular polarization. , which is a compact structure. Simulated impedance bandwidth below -10 dB is from 2.2 GHz to 7.75 GHz (113%), which covers the frequency ranges of the ISM band, the IMT band, and WiFi 6/6E. It also has circular polarization in IMT band 2 (4.4–4.9 GHz) and WiFi 6/6E (5.925–6.425GHz). The average gain of the patch antenna over the entire range is around 4 dBi.
