Development of Pupil Diameter Determination using Tiny-YOLO Algorithm

the eyes are one of the essential organs in our body since it is the organ that gives us vision and can best protect us from danger. A pupil that dilates or constricts also corresponds with the change of its size; doctors and other medical practitioners use this step as an initial evaluation of their patients; this process is called Pupillary Reflex Assessment. Pupillary reflex assessment is crucial when evaluating humans' behaviour by observing their size changes. This study aims to objectively assess the pupil size in millimeters using the Tiny YOLO Algorithm. The study applies a deep learning process in detecting the pupil and determining its size. By means of comparing the results attained by the device and the Image J software through a statistical T-test, the results display that the prototype and Image J had close pupil measurements with a percent difference of 0.584494% for the left eye and 0.476131% for the right eye, thus concluding that the result obtained did not differ significantly.
