Structural Analysis for a Limited-Contact Dynamic Compression Plate Used in Osteosynthesis

This paper presents a mechanical analysis of an osteosynthesis plate using the finite element method. Plates are the most used osteosynthesis implants for fracture fixation. The type of plate used as a computational domain in this study is the 3.5 limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP). First, a model of a four-point bending test was implemented. Subsequently, the plate was attached to a simplified model of a bone fracture, with a screw inserted in each hole. Loads were applied to the bone structure, and the mechanical behavior of the plate was observed.
