Designing a LiFi Transceiver based Space Time Block Coding with different pulses

Light fidelity (LiFi) is a promising technology that uses visible light in conducting the communication process. LiFi technology is characterized by a wide bandwidth, more security, and less cost which make LiFi compatible with the requirements of the next generation. These advantages of LiFi come with challenges represented by link blockage and interference. Space Time Block Coding (STBC) technique has the ability to solve problems of link blockages and interference. This paper investigates using LiFi transceiver-based STBC with different pulse shaping. LiFi transceiver-based traditional Tx diversity has also been designed for comparison. The proposed LiFi transceiver has also been compared with similar LiFi transceivers suggested by other research. The results have stated that the proposed LiFi transceiver improves performance by at least 25% in terms of quality factor (Q-factor), Bit Error Rates (BER), and distances. This proposed LiFi transceiver involves the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) with the STBC technique with a Non-Return to Zero (NRZ) pulse shape. Also, it has been successfully proved that this LiFi transceiver is able to transfer 15Gb/s for 200 meters in the presence of noise, interference, and fading. Co-simulation has been involved to simulate this LiFi transceiver-based STBC by using Optisystem and Matlab.
