A High-Performance Energy Selective Surface Design Method based on Series Resonant

In order to effectively deal with the real threat of strong electromagnetic pulse to the RF front-end of electronic information system, a design method of series resonance type strong electromagnetic protection energy selection surface (ESS) is proposed, which has the performance with low insertion loss and high protection efficiency. The ESS includes an interdigital capacitor and diode devices, which can make up a tunable transmission zero by the impedance of the diode and the interdigital capacitance according to the external irradiation field strength. Under normal conditions, the transmission zero point is outside the operating frequency band which does not affect the transmission of the normal operating signal. When strong electromagnetic radiation occurs, the zero point is moved into the working frequency band, thereby blocking the transmission of electromagnetic waves. A single-polarization and a dual-polarization series resonant ESS are designed and simulated, and the result shows that the insertion loss of this novel ESS is less than 1 dB, and the strong electromagnetic protection capability reaches 20 dB. The ESS method of series resonance is preliminarily verified that the ESS has a low insertion loss and high protection.
