Detection of Plant Disease using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)

One of the key elements determining every nation’s development is agricultural sector. Approximately 65% of India’s population depends on agriculture. The crops contract a variety of diseases because of diverse seasonal conditions. These diseases initially harm the plant’s leaves before spreading to the entire plant, which has an impact on the type and number of crops that may be grown. The enormous number of diseases in plants makes it very challenging for the human eye to identify and categorize. Additionally, these diseases may spread, making it crucial to diagnose each plant. As a result an automated method for plant leaf disease identification and categorization based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has been shown to be quick and simple to use. Moreover, a comparison study of CNN based disease detection with other traditional detection models has also been done over manually collected and pre-processed potato plant leaf dataset.
