Edge Computing based Smart Application System for Visually Impaired Challengers

There are around 15% of disabled people in the world. They are also part of our society. In this 15% of disabled people, blind people are also included. The main aim of this paper is to help blind and partially blind people. There are already some existing solutions for blind people, but in order to give better version, this system has been designed. They may not find people around to help them when they need to do emergency things, so this stick will be helpful for them. For blind people, it is difficult to find the obstacles, so by using this stick, they can walk in the streets without anyone’s help. They used to have a stick through which they touch or sense the obstacles in their path. This may be dangerous for them and for others. So to overcome this, a novel system is designed to find the obstacles present at the front, left, and right of the stick and notify the user. The stick also has a moisture sensor, which indicates the user about the water present on their way. The stick also indicates the pit holes if they are present on their way. The stick contains GPS technology which helps in finding the location when they press a button, a message is sent along with the location indicating that they are in emergency. ThingSpeak, an IOT analysis platform, was also used. It facilitates to immediately view the updated data visualizations posted by the device. This system will make use of different sensors in order to make it more efficient. The ATmega 328U Microcontroller is used to design the proposed system. This stick helps in improving the mobility of both blind and visually impaired people. It is an efficient device.
