Optimize SRM Rotor Geometry Analysis for 3kW Light Electric Vehicle Grade Performances

To promote a sustainable future using Electric Vehicles (EVs) mostly depends on low-cost Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The Mechanical characteristics of SRM perfectly suit EV drive operating conditions as compared to other rotational electrical machines. SRM is an excellent choice for an EVs drive due to its benefits such as simple design, high fault switching capability, wide operating frequency, constant power at high-speed range, high temperature, and high efficiency. The proposed work involves designing an EV-grade 300kg drive with the finest duty cycle characteristics. The 8/6 geometry was used to optimize the 3 kW, 3000 rpm SRM architecture. The finite element approach is used to examine the design of rotor shape and teeth topology modifications in the round, straight, taper and round, taper and straight, and straight and round. It is described the modified SRM double pole compares in terms of efficiency, line current, rated torque and power. To evaluate the effectiveness of SRM-EVs at low-speed 500rpm, the enhanced geometry model assessments were performed by JMAG software and compared with various rotor geometry adjustments.
