An Improved Direct Torque Control Scheme for PWM Inverter Based Solar PV Array Fed Induction Motor Drives

In this work, a space vector modulation (SVM) based direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor has been proposed to overcome the shortcomings of conventional DTC. One of the key features of SVM-based DTC is to reduce the torque ripple and provide a constant switching frequency. The proposed controller has a double-stage PI controller, which provides the necessary reference torque for the flux and torque controller loop. The two zero voltage vectors are deployed, which provides balanced and symmetric gate pulses to the VSI for efficient switching. Further, the IMD is supplied power from a solar PV array with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) facility. After that, a two-level pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source inverter (VSI) is feeding power to the induction motor. All the simulation works are carried out in MATLAB/Simulink platform.
