Simultaneous Temperature and Strain Sensing Based on Single-mode Photonic Crystal Fiber

We propose a single-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). The optical fiber sensor utilizes the multi-peak Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) to measure temperature and strain simultaneously. By adjusting the structure parameters and material doping concentration, two peaks with comparable intensity appear in the BGS. Moreover, the proposed PCF sensor can achieve high sensitivity and low measurement error.
