Remote Monitoring System Construction and Optimization Using Optical Heterodyne Method

A novel type of remote optical monitoring system is proposed and optimized. The model consists of the FBG as the only sensor unit at the far end, and the near end is composed of laser emission array, photoelectric detector and microwave processing unit. The photoelectric detector converts the optical signal into electrical signal through optical heterodyne, and detects the change of the FBG reflection frequency through microwave data processing. The performance of the monitoring system is successfully improved through the optimization of networking mode and power ratio of laser emission array. The low loss and high sensitivity monitoring system with a center frequency of microwave signal about 124 GHz and measuring range of 20 km is successfully simulated, which meets the engineering requirements of remote monitoring.
