Abstract:
Conventional generation can be effectively replaced by microgrids (MGs) that use distributed energy resources (DERs), because these MGs provide more resilience, efficiency, and dependability. In this paper single stage three-phase grid-tied, battery energy storage (BES) and Solar Photo Voltaic Array (SPVA) hybrid system is presented which incorporates seamless transfer of mode between standalone and grid connected modes. The aim of the proposed topology is to deliver a local nonlinear load with consistent and dependable power during transients like change in solar irradiation, grid outage and resynchronization of grid. For extracting maximum power from SPVA perturb and observe method is used and using MPPT bi-directional DC converter (BDDC) controls the DC-link Voltage and BES charging and discharging. A novel steepest descent least mean square (NSDLMS) control method derived from AI-Alaoui digital differentiator is applied to voltage source converter (VSC) control in on-grid mode which ensures fast convergence and less oscillations. During on-grid, grid current and during off-grid load voltage, percentage total harmonic distortion (THD) is found to be within 5% respectively.
