IOT Based Traffic Controlling System

Traffic jams are a major problem in many cities. Existing system signal timings are fixed and unaffected by traffic volume Constant traffic stops at red lights are a key source of congestion. The proposed solution is an IoT-based traffic management system in which signal periods are modified in response to vehicle volumes. This system sends the current vehicle count to the next traffic signal using an Arduino IDE and a ZigBee transceiver module. The signal at the next intersection is controlled by the volume of traffic at the preceding intersection. All vehicles, including ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, have the same level of priority during traffic jams, hence the emergency vehicles often end up stranded in the gridlock. In this research, we offer a method for priority-based vehicle identification using approaches from the field of image processing. If an emergency vehicle is detected, the lane it is in will be prioritized above the other lanes. In the publication, the authors present an algorithm that can determine whether or not a vehicle is an emergency vehicle.
