Smart Energy Meter Monitoring using RS485

Evaluation of electrical parameter data is required to reduce energy consumption, increase efficiency and prevent short circuits and power outages. Increasing the electrical equipment's life expectancy as a result. The multifunction meter (conzervEM6438H) used to measure voltage, current, frequency, power factor, power consumed and energy consumed is used to measure electrical consumption statistics in residential and commercial facilities. The recent techniques are Wireless technologies, Power Line Communication and Cellular Communication which are not cost-efficient. This multifunction meter offers data communication using the RS485 serial communication standard which reduces the cost and is reliable. With the aid of the right software, the meter is connected to a computer, where the data stored in the internal register of the meter is extracted using RS585 communication and displayed on the computer.
