Research on Smart Onshore Charging Facilities with Mutual Aid Function to Consume Renewable Energy

The promotion of high-power shore power facilities has had an impact on the grid. However, relying on the advantages of large battery capacity and regular running trajectory, a large number of electric ships can achieve efficient ship-grid-interaction. Efficient renewable energy consumption can also be achieved while avoiding heavy/overload problems. Relying on new shore power facilities and energy routers, a microgrid including distributed PV is constructed. Combined with the mutual aid of shore power facilities and flexible charging regulation, various ships are innovatively aggregated as distributed energy storage. The aggregated electric ship becomes a large-scale energy storage system to consume renewable energy according to the six proposed scenarios. In a typical case, this strategy solved the problem of overloaded lines, improved the local PV consumption rate by about 30%, and reduced carbon emissions by 0.9 tons per day. Also, it is estimated that 13.2 million yuan saved in grid infrastructure investment.
