Failure and Scheduling in Grid Computing: a Review

Grid computing goes far beyond capabilities of traditional distributed computing, which combines scalable large databases, high network capacity, and pervasive elevated computational resources into a single pool of resources. The scheduling in Grid Computing is a NP-Complete problem. Due to occurrences of unavoidable failures in grid computing, the scheduling of resources become more critical and important to dealt with. This research paper reviews the various types of failures that occur in grid computing, different approaches to deal with failure and various task/resource scheduling strategies in such a hybrid environment.
