A Data Provenance Scheme Based on Blockchain for Internet of Things

Data provenance technology has played a very important role in the era of big data. However, the existing provenance technologies using blockchain and smart contract still need to be improved in data privacy protection. In this paper, we propose a data provenance scheme based on blockchain for Internet of Things (IoT). Specifically, we develop a smart contract with reasonable access control policy on the blockchain, so that the rights of data owners and users are limited to ensure data security. We also select several important smart contracts to test the time cost of transactions. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can meet the functional requirements of data provenance of the general IoT.
