PROFINET diagnosis and predictive maintenance

This paper first provides a detailed introduction to PROFINET diagnostic data sources, diagnostic models, and the basic theory of diagnostic implementation, with the aim of helping PROFINET users understand the structure and transmission principles of diagnostic information. Then the integration architecture of PROFINET and OPC UA technology is proposed, and the various ways of transferring diagnostic information to manufacturing execution systems (device to PLC, device to edge devices, and device to MES/Cloud) are illustrated. Finally, the importance of PROFINET diagnostic information for predictive maintenance implementation is pointed out with examples.
