Smart Grid Architecture Model (SGAM) for resilience using Energy Internet of Things (EIoT)

The significance of Smart Grid can be realized by the bidirectional communication channel between consumers and utility providers which gives accurate energy use data and demand response. Because of the all-new advanced architectures of the smart grid, the real-time power generation and all constraints of demand responses are met via communication channels and Energy Internet of Things (EIoT) based systems. The smart metering infrastructure is essential and must be the nodal points of measurement to anticipate high peaks of power demand or potential cyber attacks in order to avoid power outages of the grid. The paper suggests a novel architecture for the smart grid for grid resilience, which incorporates cloud computing resources and EIoT to do the energy consumption prediction, meeting the demand responses and keeping the grid away from cyber-attack threats. On the other side, the connectivity losses can be detected by Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) with synchrophasor data analysis, and intrusions within the specific area of the network can be neutralized by advanced controllability concepts.
