Development and Application Analysis of Fault-location for Distribution power grid based on 5G

Fast and accurate fault location can improve the reliability, selectivity and rapidity of distribution grid protecting. The traditional power grid fault location equipment is limited by communication and calculation delay, which makes it difficult to meet the requirements of protection equipment. This paper presents a design scheme of fast fault location device for distribution power grid, it uses 5G network technology to ensure low delay and high reliability of communication between devices. The lifting wavelet is used to replace traditional discrete wavelet transform, and software functions such as fault identification and location calculation are realized using FPGA hardware, improving the real-time performance of the whole process, providing fast and accurate fault location information, and meeting the requirements of cooperation with protection equipment. The potential application scenarios of this technology in distribution power grid are discussed in this paper.
