In-Memory Synchronization Platform for Electronic Toll Collection via Computer Network of the Expressway in Thailand

The use of Thailand’s expressways as an alternative for navigating around congested areas of traffic has exponentially expanded over the past 10 years. This leads to problems of incorrect data and time delay for complete data distribution. The current transmission technology based on FTP protocol cannot handle such increasing passengers in Bangkok metropolitan network. Therefore, this paper presents the Network In-memory Sync Platform (NISP) to enhance the data accuracy and complete data distribution of passenger’s balance in nearly real-time. A true experiment is conducted by using the actual environment which is a network of expressway authorities of Thailand in the Bangkok metropolitan. The performance comparison between the existing technology and the purposed technology is introduced. From experimental results, it is found that the NISP technology gives a better performance in data accuracy up to approximately 80%. For time delay performance, the NISP introduces the average time delay as 2 seconds while the existing technology takes the average delay up to 10 minutes.
