Design of Smart Attachment for Refrigerator

In recent years the emergence of e-commerce platforms like Bigbasket, Blinkit, Amazon Fresh, Swiggy Instamart, and many more offering quick door deliveries online shopping has become an emerging trend. With the recent pandemic, online shopping for groceries is increased by 45% while shopping at grocery stores is reduced by around 30%. The problem with online shopping is that comparing the prices of groceries among online vendors is difficult. To solve this issue this paper presents an add-on attachment to an existing refrigerator to convert it into a smart refrigerator. The system uses image-based grocery detection using SSD Mobnet Convolutional Neural Network model which identifies the grocery and returns the price of detected grocery from various e-commerce platform, from which the user can choose to purchase grocery for a favourable vendor. API created using selenium acts as a gateway between the system and the e-commerce platform to fetch real time information. The main motivation is to create a user-friendly attachment which aids users to be more economical.
