A Hybrid Coordination Method for Voltage Improvement in Active Distribution Networks

To improve bus voltage in active distribution networks (ADN), coordinated power compensations of power electronic equipment such as inverter and converter are widely used. As they are limited by frequent communication or non-optimal coordination, how to design a method to facilitate optimal coordination while reducing communication is of significance. Hence, this paper designs a new hybrid coordinated voltage regulation method. Specifically, we propose an event-triggered algorithm firstly to divide all runtimes into trigger and non-trigger types. Then, a centralized proportional coordinated power compensation method is introduced to reduce bus voltage offset level for ADN operating at trigger instant. A decentralized local coordinated power compensation method is additionally used to suppress violating voltage fluctuation at non-trigger instant. Finally, the obtained results are presented to show the performance.
