Grid Interfaced Solar Water Pumping System Using Induction Motor Drive

According to present scenario the demand of solar energy is very high. In this project the water pump is run by solar energy as well single phase grid. The induction motor drive is used to run the water pump. Solar photovoltaic is used whenever proper solar energy is available otherwise the water pump is run by single phase grid. The power flows from solar photovoltaic to induction motor drive by using inverter. The dc voltage is boost up by chopper to fulfill the required demand. . To achieve this demand, based on maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control is implemented. Where, to control the Induction motor drive (IMD) by using voltage source inverter, a simple voltage/frequency (i.e. flux) control technique is used. In addition to the power flows from Solar photovoltaic (SPV) to the Induction motor drive (IMD), a DC–DC boost converter is used as a power factor correction (PFC) unit and a grid interfacing device. This imposed system is simulated in MATLAB, MPPT, grid interfaced and in mixed mode in various operating conditions. For better utilization of Solar photovoltaic (SPV) array, it is necessary to maximize the power from the SPV array. MATLAB simulation is used to simulate the water pump based system.
