Eye Height and Received Power Analysis in Multibeam FSO System under Different Haze Variants

Due to the prodigious increase in internet applications, implementations of beyond fifth generation (5G) cellular networks and internet-of-the-things (IOT) connectivity have exerted peer pressure on the existing radio frequency (RF) spectrum. Therefore, researchers suggested a promising solution to cope with ever-increasing bandwidth demands, termed free space optical communication (FSOC) technology. Despite the numerous advantages of FOSC systems over RF, it has the predominant limitation of its performance dependability on atmospheric conditions such as rain, fog, and haze. In this research article, different haze conditions of Malaysia are investigated in proposed 1.25 Gbps multibeam FSO system. Further, three diverse modulations are investigated such as Non return to zero (NRZ), Return to zero (RZ) and Compressed Spectrum RZ (CSRZ) in terms of received power, Q factor and eye height. Results revealed that maximum power is received in case of CSRZ advanced modulation format due to narrow spectrum and intra-bit phase change.
