Application of Structural Equation Modelling for Measuring the Quality Of Work Life among the Employees in Commercial Banks

Quality of Work Life provides healthier, satisfied and productive employees, providing efficient and profitable organisation. Most organisations today view Quality of Work Life as essential. Still, they do not formally link it to their strategic or business plans, affecting employee job satisfaction and retention. This study primarily aims to measure the quality of work life and examine the extent of variations in QWL of bank employees in Tiruchirappalli. This study is like descriptive research. The researcher circulated a questionnaire to 273 respondents and collected it for further analysis. About 10% of the population has been taken for this study as a sample. This scenario has urged the Institution policy makers to identify the underlying situations and reasons and brought into consideration the Quality of Work Life issues. Significant findings of the study are: job satisfaction would increase by 0.451 for every unit increase in job characteristics, and this coefficient value is significant at a 1% level. 0.472 represents the partial effect of work timing towards organisational culture and climate, holding job characteristics, career growth plans & training and development, open communication, rewards and compensation and welfare and physical measures as constant. A researcher has given a few suggestions: Most do not observe appropriate break procedures when working, which might lead to problems with the recovery process. As a welfare measure and to minimise the number of health-related issues, businesses need to make it a priority to provide mandatory break time throughout the workday. Businesses must ensure that their employees are provided with a suitable environment to work in to boost their overall levels of productivity and effectiveness in the execution of their tasks.
