Performance Investigation of 800nm and 1000nm wavelength in an Optical Wireless Communication

Optical Wireless Communication became center of attraction since last two decades as it does not have any assigned protocol to be used its spectrum and it is unaffected by Electromagnetic interferences, higher bandwidth, high immunity, enhanced interconnectivity and enabling Inter satellite links between LEO-GEO. In general it overcome the limitations of conventional Radio frequency technologies. As Laser didoes providing operating wavelength of 800nm to 1550 nm are preferred for ISL links. In this paper we investigated the performance of 800nm and 1000nm wavelength signal on Optical Wireless channel with the range of 1200Km and important receiver parameters like Quality factor, Bit Error rate, Optical Signal Noise ratio analyzed. Q-factor variation with respect to Range and output signal power plotted for different wavelengths mentioned and it is promising for future enhancements. It has predicted that high Q-factor achieved for lower wavelength range. Without considering various signal attenuation significantly, it is proved that when Optical wavelength range decreased Optical Signal to noise ratio increased and showed good amount of Quality factor values for short ranges.
