An Adaptive Approach to Detect and Track the Cyclone Path Using Remote Sensing Data

With the advancement in technology in recent years, the interest of researchers, policymakers, and authorities associated with the evaluation of disasters has increased tremendously. This has become a helping hand to those, who are directly or indirectly involved in the rescue and management process during the disaster. The tropical cyclone is one of the major natural disasters that may affect the 7516 km-long coastlines of India. It is accompanied by destructive wind, high waves, and torrential rain leading to severe storm surges and floods. The objective of this research is to determine the track of tropical cyclones. The challenge associated with this task is that various parameters such as wind speed and vertical wind shear affect the path of the tropical cyclone. Therefore, the motivation of this research is to determine the path of the tropical cyclone by computing the centroid of the relative cloud cluster and taking into account the other relevant parameters. It may help us in near future to predict the path of the cyclone in advance which gives an advantage to local authorities to trigger an early warning in order to minimize the loss in terms of economy and life.
