Rebuilding of the Very First Soviet Computer M-1 as part of an Interactive Museum Project – First Steps

The paper reports about the project of recreating a functionally complete replica of the very first Soviet computer, the M-1. The project initial step involves the development of a M-1 software simulator. The simulator will be the heart of the interactive M-1 museum: it will allow visitors to get acquainted with the history of the building of one of the very first computers, as well as personally write and debug a program in the original computer machine language. The main idea of the museum has previously described by the authors in the concept of the Museum of One Computer (MoC). It is also consonant with the ideas outlined in the IEEE Global Museum project.
