Passive Optical Black Box

Nowadays the development and implementation of optical networks is unstoppable. Up-to-date knowledge in this area is essential for engineers. The training of this subject is accomplished both in secondary and upper levels at several institutions in Hungary. In connection with my current work - in higher education - my task was to create a passive optical measuring box, which provides an opportunity to learn the measurement techniques of the subject field with the help of several measurement exercises. The design of the measuring box and the measuring environment was made according to samples taken from a real network. The prospective engineering students can measure in a complex measurement environment that includes the measurement box, instruments, and associated measuring instructions.
