Polymer Tapered Pillar Grown from SMF Core for Silicon-photonics Chip Coupling

A UV-curable resin tapered pillar was successfully grown from the SMF core by irradiating 365 nm UV light. The fabricated tapered pillar with hard cladding achieved a spot size of 4.46 µm for 1.55 µm light, and a maximum coupling efficiency of −1.29 dB was obtained for a HiNA fiber.
