Temperature Control and Energy Saving System for Communication Base Station Based on Fuzzy PID Algorithm

Reducing the energy cost of communication base stations is a crucial factor in wireless communication industries, and cut the power consumption of in-base air conditioners is a simple but efficient way to lower the cost of energy. There are several options focused on the energy conservation of air conditioners available, but most of them lack the suitability to various kinds of communication base stations in the field. In this paper, we introduced a temperature control system based on fuzzy Proportion Integral Differential(PID) control algorithm and loaded it on a microcontroller unit(MCU). The fuzzy PID control system automatically adjusts itself to a non-linear and time-invariant environment, reduced the excessive cooling of the air conditioner which results energy waste.The system ensured the basse station is meeting regulator’s standards. Software simulation and experimental data conducted in the communication base station shows that this system, combined with the ventilation system the base stations already have, can help them achieve a good energy efficiency effect by reducing the energy consumption by air conditioners.
