A Safe Distance Monitoring System with an Ultrasonic Range Detector Sensor

Automobiles are one of the most useful and flexible ways to travel. But even though they are convenient and common, they are also very dangerous. Each year, collisions with other cars and stationary objects kill thousands of people. Exposure and evasion can help prevent many accidents caused by careless, tired, or drunk drivers. There is no standard collision detection feature in any car on the market right now, and there are no devices that spot potentially dangerous objects from a distance. The purpose of this paper is to present a proposed software application that uses a new technique to prevent accidents. Ultrasound sensors can detect many potential dangers. By improving the vehicle’s safety systems, the vehicle and sensor function normally until the sensor detects a possible threat. In our paper, the sensor will not send a signal until the car is 1 meter away from an obstacle. Several warnings exist. The system alerts the user of the distance remaining by lights, sounds, a buzzer, and an LCD. When the car gets near a barrier, it automatically stops. This feature helps if the driver is sleeping or inattentive. The proposed software system was written in C++ and Java using the Arduino IDE and MIT app inventor, respectively.
