K Best Sphere Decoders for Massive MIMO Receivers

Next generation wireless communication system demands very high data rate for multimedia applications. In this context, the massive MIMO boost up the standard of MIMO as compared to conventional technologies. Due to increasing rate of complexity because of large number of antennas at both transmitter and receiver end, receiver should be designed in efficient manner. This paper proposes two sphere decoders K and K1 modified using K best algorithm. The presented sphere decoders are evaluated for massive MIMO configurations and performance is measured in terms of SER, spectral efficiency and computational time. The K best algorithm has been supported on MATLAB software using 64 QAM modulations for 16×16, 32×32, 64×64 and 128x128 antenna configurations. Simulation shows that the proposed algorithm reduces the computational complexity for higher antenna configurations, besides improving spectral efficiency and reducing the SER.
