UAV assisted MIMO-NOMA for maximizing the sum capacity by satisfying the QoS of the users

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) base station plays a crucial role in establishing communication at temporary events and destruction areas. However, Placing the aerial base station for serving more users with the optimum resource is a challenging task. This article investigates the altitude and power optimization of UAV-assisted Multi Inputs and Multi Outputs (MIMO) communication systems. The MIMO provides reliability and improves the data rate. In addition, NOMA was adopted to serve more users with fewer spectrums. The maximization of the sum rate is a mixed integer nonlinear problem. However, a less complex heuristic optimization method is employed to optimize the altitude and power distribution. The simulation results show that UAV-assisted MIMO with NOMA outperforms the OMA.
