Research on monitoring and management of I&C equipment in the M&LL of NPPS

In the middle and late life(M&LL) of nuclear power plants(NPPs), the potential nuclear safety hazards caused by the degradation, faults or failure of the instrument and control(I&C) system equipment are increasing, which threaten the operation safety of NPPs and also affect the economy of NPPs. In order to dynamically grasp the status of the instrument and control system equipment in the middle and later period of the life of nuclear power plants, to find out the problems existing in the instrument and control system equipment in time or to predict their potential faults, and to ensure the safety of the operation of nuclear power plants, according to the characteristics of instrumentation and control system equipment in the middle and late of the life of nuclear power plants, the monitoring methods of instrument and control system are studied from the aspects of equipment performance change monitoring, equipment aging status monitoring and equipment fault monitoring. On this basis, the basic methods of I&C equipment management in the M&LL of NPPs based on equipment health status management, equipment failure management, aging management and life management are proposed, and the basic criteria for equipment unavailability are given. This research has practical significance for the monitoring and management of I&C equipment in the M&LL of NPPs.
