Experimental Investigation of Control Strategy in a Wind Energy Conversion System Based on PMSG

This paper presents an experimental research of a control strategy for a Wind enery conversion System (WECS) based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) and the modeling of power converter, where one has been connected to the (PMSG). The left side converter is controlled by Field Oriented Control (FOC). The control of this system is accomplished by applying Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control for extracting the maximum power and proportional integral (PI) correctors to control the speed and the d and q-axis currents. The proposed subsystems experimental results are presented using a 1.57kW four poles pairs, three-phases PMSG which is directly connected to a servomotor to produce a rotation speed of 3000 rpm at a frequency of 200 Hz.
