Peak Age of Information with Receiver Induced Service Interruptions

This paper considers a source-monitor pair in which the source sends stochastically generated update packets through a network that is modeled as a queue. The goal of the system is to deliver fresh information to the monitor. The monitor is modeled as an active participant in this process and has the ability to interrupt the ongoing update packet in service causing a system reset. The paper considers the impact of various such interruption policies from the monitor on the Peak Age of Information (PAoI), along with when such interruptions improve information freshness as experienced at the monitor.
