Multilayer Defense Security Management in Consideration of TPO Conditions

In recent years, IoT has been rapidly advancing along with the development of digital transformation (DX). However, it has been facing issues such as response time and security due to the CPU and memory limitations. In contrast, fog computing, which is located between IoT (edge) and the cloud, has been attracting attention. However, comprehensive security measures for three-layer networks spanning the edge, fog and cloud layers have not yet been sufficiently studied. In this research, we propose a new security measure for three-layer networks spanning the edge, fog, and cloud layers from a practical viewpoint. Specifically, we focus on the behavior of the edge layer and propose a multilayer defense security management method that takes security measures on the basis of the time, place, and occasion (TPO) conditions of the edge, and we qualitatively evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Future work includes clarifying the cost-effectiveness relationship of the proposed method.
