SPS: A framework Of Smart Parking System Using IoT Technology

With the increase in on-street automobiles, there arises the problem in managing availability of spaces for parking which results in parking issues and increases the congestion on roads specially in cities. In order to assist the driver in finding the suitable parking spot for their vehicles, it becomes the need to develop smart parking systems which are automated. There is a lot of literature available for the deployment of SPS but the real time identification covering the issues of illegal parking and automatic parking fee administration is not addressed. In this paper a design is proposed which considers the parking systems based on IoT technology. An integrated parking meter is installed in this prototype and this feature is used to resolve all the above-mentioned issues and it also helps in managing the SPS in the cities. The ultrasonic sensor node is used in the parking meter to find out if a vehicle is present there or not. In order to indicate the status of parking space, LED is used which will show either the lot is reserved or empty. Microcontroller is used to set the alarm which will create a warning sound for improper parking.
