Metaverse as A Future of Education: A Systematic Review

Learning has become the most important activity in our life. There are many ways to learn, but only some are interesting. However, by using technology, learning has become more exciting and attractive. One of the most promising technologies in education fields are Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, which combines the real world with the virtual world. This virtual world is called "METAVERSE". With metaverse, we can interact with people in a virtual environment with life-like participants’ avatars. Some works of literature have used metaverse technology as a learning tool, making learning more attractive than seeing people on a screen. Through this research, we use systematic literature reviews to discover the possibilities, effectiveness, and advantages and disadvantages of learning using the metaverse. Based on our study, we can conclude that metaverse is proven to be an effective learning tool. Because learning in the metaverse gives many advantages, such as it helps to visualize materials and make learning more interactive, easier, and interesting for students, and also help teachers in the learning process. However, there are also some limitations, such as the cost of the device needed to support the metaverse. Therefore, there are more advantages to using the metaverse in education as a learning tool. Future development is needed to maximize the metaverse’s advantages and handle the limitations of the metaverse as a learning platform.
