A Novel Approach of Using IoT Methodology for Smart Waste Management System-SIM900

A waste management system can be defined as the collective process of managing waste from its inception to its final disposition. Whatever we do, we are bound to produce waste. With the booming population, and the mass increase in the generation of waste, waste management has become one of the most challenging tasks in this present generation. Overfilled waste bins have become a normal sight, burning waste materials and dumping them in open spaces has become a daily routine in order to discard waste materials. These factors have greatly affected the surroundings and the planet as a whole. In order to address this problem, we need to have a dynamic and effective waste management system. In order to manage our garbage effectively and to promote a healthy and clean environment, we proposed a smart waste management system in this project by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) into the current waste management system. In this thesis, real-time monitoring of the quality of Waste through Smart Bin is done using GSM SIM-900A as IoT Module based on three parameters collectively: Dustbin filled status, weight measurement, and air quality. Smart Waste Management System has been implemented thus adding “real-time monitoring of Quality of Waste” to our existing Waste Management System. Our government is already working to manage the waste but this research gives more power to the techniques of waste management systems using real-time monitoring of the quality of waste. GSM SIM-900A is being used for sending and receiving text but here in this research, we have used this GSM SIM-900A as an IoT device. It interacts with the real-time database to send live updates to our android applications It is concluded that our system is an excellent framework for a healthy ecosystem.
