An Electromagnetic and Triboelectric Hybrid Motion Sensing System for Self-Powered Robotic Balancing Platforms

This work newly reports a 3D printed self-powered hybrid motion sensing system (SP-HMSS) that facilitates the self-powered random motion sensing and efficient energy generation for sustainable wireless control of the robotic platforms without requiring external power. The integration of electromagnetic generator (EMG) and magnetic force triggered self-actuating triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) working on contact-separation (CS) and sliding (S) mode together achieves excellent motion sensitivities (frequency, acceleration, direction, angle, etc.) along a random path. The EMG can deliver a maximum peak power of 108 mW (below 5 Hz), which is sufficient to sustainably operate the signal processing and transmission components such that the custom-designed robotic platforms can be wirelessly balanced using the proposed SP-HMSS with greater accuracy exhibiting huge potential for future robotic control applications.
