Ultrawide Telescopic Actuator for Haptics Presentation based on Clustered and Elastic Convex Tapes

There are numerous haptic presenting devices with varied features, however, devices that can display a strong feedback force and working distance, which are needed to simulate daily life, such as a virtual environment, are limited. We had designed a telescopic mechanism, based on elastic convex tapes that, achieved a presenting force of 300–770 N with a 2 m working distance, however, the applied power was limited by the internal driving mechanism. In this demonstration, we present a modified ultrawide telescopic actuator, that is adequate for haptic presentation without power loss.
