A novel method for narrow impulse capture and parameter monitoring on the basic of microwave photonics

To solve the problem of mass sampling data and fast response time for UWB measurement, this article suggests a novel method for UWB parameter monitoring. A new strategy for amplitude and pulse width measurement is first proposed on the foundation of area and energy measurement by photoelectronic modulator and integrator. The microwave photonics is introduced to achieve the square of the signal and the integrator is aiming to accomplish the process of integration. Different waveform factors are derived to determine the value of parameter for different signals. The method keeps a quite good accuracy, where the measured results of 0.1V/0.83ns Gaussian impulse are 0. 089V/0.86ns, with 11.0% and 3.6% relative error, respectively.
