Packet diversity techniques for a broadband ATM-oriented radio indoor environment

We consider a future indoor wireless network operating in the mm-wavelength radio spectrum and capable of supporting broadband services like video teleconferencing and transmission of high-resolution images on top of the traditional ones that include cordless telephony and paging. Antenna diversity techniques-operating on a packet basis at both the macroscopic and microscopic levels-combined with coding are suggested as a means to improve the reliability of wireless connections and make feasible the extension of ATM-related protocols to the wireless domain.<
